To the Nichols College community,
As all of you have learned, President Engelkemeyer has announced her plans to retire at the end of the 2020-21 academic year. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I express my gratitude for her decade of visionary leadership and know you will join me throughout the year in honoring her for her extraordinary service. In the meantime, I look forward to continuing our work together as we prepare for the eighth president of Nichols College.
The Board is preparing for a national search for her successor. A Presidential Search Committee, comprising a broad range of representatives from the campus community, is being formed under the direction of its chair, Trustee Randy Becker ’83 MBA ’96. Trustee representatives for the committee have been chosen; details on the selection of faculty, students, alumni, and staff administration will be forthcoming from Chair Becker. The mandate of the search committee is to recommend a candidate to the Board of Trustees, which has the ultimate responsibility and authority of selecting the next president.
The college has contracted with the executive search firm of Isaacson Miller in Boston, and I encourage you to learn more about them here. In the coming weeks, they will provide opportunities for all of you to help guide their search, and I thank you in advance for your thoughtful feedback and cooperation in this important decision.
Choosing a new president can certainly be a challenging and consuming process, but I am confident that, working as community, we will choose the right leader, one who can build on the foundation of success set by President Engelkemeyer.
John H. Davis ’72
Board of Trustees, Chair
